Explora Journeys EXPLORA II: Pre-Cruise Planning Secrets (Touchpoints, Insurance + Tools) Part 1of3
If you’re considering Explora Journeys—or you’ve already booked EXPLORA II—this is the pre-cruise planning video I wish I had before my first voyage. I’m Gary Tilkin, an ultra-luxury cruise, travel, and travel-product reviewer. I’m a paying guest and I’m not paid by Explora Journeys (or the products I discuss). Occasionally a brand may offer a promotional fare, a product for review, or a complimentary upgrade—but my opinions are experience-based and my integrity is not for sale. This video is Part 1 of a 3-part series for my upcoming 8-day Caribbean sailing on EXPLORA II (March 18–26, 2026), and I’ll also be posting detailed live updates on Cruise Critic during the voyage. In this episode, we cover the practical “make or break” details that reduce stress and improve your overall trip: reservation windows (specialty dining, spa, classes, online check-in), booking 30 days out vs. planning far ahead, and the Explora Journeys pre-cruise touchpoints I rate (call center, emails, website usability, pricing transparency, excursions, upgrade bidding, and more). I also share my planning tools (brand comparison spreadsheet, vacation calendar, the “Journey Document,” and a butler intro letter) plus my real-world travel system for luggage, packing, tech organization, and insurance—because a great cruise starts long before you step onboard.
