A Bear Fishing Right in Downtown Ketchikan

Then the salmon started jumping right below the boardwalk, and a bear showed up to fish for them, close enough that the whole street stopped. Not a viewing platform, not a boat tour out to a remote creek — just a bear, in the middle of downtown, doing exactly what the salmon run brought it there to do. We watched from the boardwalk, docked on the Eurodam just a short walk from where it was happening. So what's actually worth the trip — the shops you planned for, or the thing you didn't know to expect? Colorful buildings over moving water. Salmon thick enough in the creek to draw a bear right into town. A street that gave us a completely different day than the one we walked in expecting.
