The Reality of Repositioning Cruises: Is the Bargain Worth the Sea Days?
Repositioning cruises can offer great value—but would you enjoy FOUR consecutive sea days before your first port? Before booking that bargain, look at the weather, itinerary pacing, one-way flights, and total vacation cost. Sheryl and I are preparing for our 10-night Celebrity Silhouette repositioning cruise from Boston to Fort Lauderdale, departing October 20, 2026, with visits to Curaçao, Bonaire, and Aruba. Our itinerary includes four sea days before the islands, three consecutive port days, and two more sea days heading to Florida. That’s six sea days altogether—and a very different experience from a port-heavy cruise. This is our PRE-CRUISE planning guide. I’ll report back after sailing with our actual experience.
