Last-Minute Cruise Bargains! Sail Hawaii to Australia for HOW MUCH?!
18 nights cruising from Hawaii to Australia for just $1,999?! Transpacific repositioning cruises can offer some incredible last-minute bargains — but are they really as good as they sound? In April, we sailed Anthem of the Seas from Sydney to Honolulu, spending 19 nights crossing the Pacific via New Zealand and French Polynesia. We booked well in advance and paid around $14,000 AUD for the two of us, including our balcony cruise, flights home and two nights in Hawaii. But now the ships are heading the other way. As cruise lines reposition their ships back to Australia for the summer season, some September and October transpacific sailings are being heavily discounted as departure gets closer. In this video, we look at: What a repositioning cruise actually is Why last-minute fares can become so cheap What it's really like having so many sea days French Polynesia, New Zealand and other incredible ports along the way Why flights and hotels can make or break the bargain Why choosing the right ship is especially important And whether an 18-night cruise for $1,999 really represents great value We also share what we learned from our own transpacific crossing aboard Anthem of the Seas — including crossing the Equator and International Date Line — and whether we'd do another one. If you're flexible with your dates and can travel at relatively short notice, these could be some of the most interesting cruise bargains around. Would you spend nearly three weeks crossing the Pacific? And how many sea days in a row is TOO many?
