It houses the headquarters of Levi Strauss & Co. As of 1998, the company Blue Jeans Equity West is the landlord of the complex. In 1998, the company's ownership consisted of Equitable Real Estate, Gerson Bakar, Jim Joseph, and Al Wilsey. Steve Ginsberg of the San Francisco Business Times said in 1998 that the complex is "the only true corporate campus" in San Francisco. Site History The site was originally known as Frederick Griffing's wharf. Eventually, the land was built up, and the wharf was buried along with Frederick Griffing's ship. When Levi's Plaza was under construction, the buried 1850s-era ship was rediscovered. The construction of the 763,000-square-foot (70,900 m2), seven-story facility began in 1979 and was completed in 1981. $110 million was spent on the exterior building, and Levi Strauss spent $120 million on interior improvements. Levi Strauss & Co. first moved to the corporate campus facility in 1981. https://www.levisplaza.com/ Levi's Plaza is home to a collective of creators. The campus offers a truly unique workspace designed to foster innovation and collaboration. Creative office space, on-site retail, and restaurants all surround a plaza and park designed by acclaimed landscape architect Lawrence Halprin. It is the best of California, with the best of San Francisco at your fingertips. Levi Strauss & Co. -- The San Francisco Headquarters Ever since Levi Strauss & Co. was founded in San Francisco back in 1853, this city has been at the heart of the Levi's story. When Levi's broke ground on Levi’s® Plaza in 1979, they set down roots that have supported the company's growth for nearly half a century. Now, Levi's has completed a significant redesign of the headquarters, blending the Levi's brand's rich heritage with a fresh, modern vibe to better serve fans and employees. The Levi’s® Plaza Store Levi's officially reopened the doors to the Levi’s® store at 1155 Battery Street. This new location gives fans another place to shop in our hometown and shows our commitment to being a best-in-class DTC-first retailer with standout denim-lifestyle collections for everyone. Having a store right at the company's headquarters is a daily reminder of how the company is bringing the Levi's vision to life. The Vault – Our LS&Co. Museum After 172 years in business, Levi's has many stories to share. The Vault, Levi's company museum, had been closed since the pandemic, but we’re excited to welcome visitors back to a new, expanded space, now open as of November 2025. San Francisco's International Cruise Ship Terminal at Pier 27 The Pier 27 James R. Herman Cruise Terminal opened in 2014. Ships can plug into the Port’s 12-megawatt shore power system to receive the cleanest source of power. The terminal is available as an event space during non-cruise days. Part of the Metro Events portfolio, Pier 27 is a great event space for corporate, social, and fundraising events, as well as conferences and more. Pier 27 offers indoor and outdoor event spaces with amazing views of the San Francisco skyline and the Bay Bridge, accommodating 100 to 3,000 guests. Cruise Terminal Plaza is 2.5 acres of open space outside the James R. Herman Cruise Terminal at Pier 27. The plaza has a large lawn with benches for relaxing and watching visiting cruise ships at the waterfront. Signs around the park tell the stories of prominent cruise ships that have visited the Port of San Francisco.
