Livorno Italy Cruise Port 🇮🇹 | Easy DIY Day from Sky Princess + Central Market

What can you actually do during a cruise stop in Livorno, Italy without booking an excursion? We visited Livorno aboard Sky Princess and spent the day exploring independently. First warning: give yourself PLENTY of time for the port shuttle. Because of where our ship docked, we needed the shuttle to get into town, and the line was extremely long and slow. Once we made it into Livorno, though, it was absolutely worth it. Livorno is an easy, walkable DIY cruise port filled with historic architecture, bustling streets, markets, restaurants, bars and plenty of opportunities to sample local Italian food. We visited Livorno’s famous Central Market and picked up fresh bread, figs, dates, pistachios, fruit and some incredible cheeses. Add an espresso and an Aperol Spritz from a local bar and this quickly became one of those port days where eating IS the activity. If you’ve been aboard a cruise ship for a while and you’re craving fresh Italian food, come hungry. No organized excursion needed for this one. Livorno is affordable, walkable and a great place to simply wander and experience a slice of everyday Italian life.
