Our FIRST TIME in AFRICA! 🇲🇦 And what a way to experience it! We arrived in Tangier, Morocco aboard the Carnival Freedom during our 14-day transatlantic cruise from Florida to Barcelona. For our first visit to Africa, we joined Carnival’s “The Door to Africa” excursion to get an introduction to this fascinating Moroccan city. Our day started with a ride up to the Kasbah, followed by a guided walk through the winding streets and narrow passageways of the Tangier Medina. From there, we headed into the bazaar, where we watched a demonstration of beautiful Moroccan rugs and artwork, did a little shopping, and enjoyed traditional Moroccan mint tea and cookies. 🇲🇦 We also visited St. Andrew’s Church and spent time simply walking through Tangier, taking in the architecture, markets, people, colors, and—of course—all the CATS! 🐈 We couldn't believe how many friendly cats we encountered throughout the city. But our Tangier adventure didn't end when the cruise excursion did. Instead of heading straight back to the Carnival Freedom, we continued exploring on our own and found a small family-owned restaurant away from the tour groups. We sat down for a simple but delicious Moroccan meal of chicken, beans, lentils, and fresh bread—one of our favorite experiences of the entire day.
