Some stayed in Monastiraki, some in Plaka, and some near Syntagma Square — and honestly, each area had something great to offer. Monastiraki gives you energy, markets, street food, and easy walking access to major sites. Plaka is charming, historic, and right below the Acropolis. Syntagma is central, practical, and well connected for getting around the city. Our biggest advice? Pick the area that matches the kind of Athens experience you want — but try to stay close enough to walk to the major sights if you can.
