Not Cruise Ships, He Works in South Korea’s Fishing Industry This was a first for us. At Bali Airport, we met a young professional from Tabanan, Bali, who was preparing to depart for Jeju, South Korea, the first Balinese diaspora we have interviewed on his way to work in Korea. He works in the fishing industry, spending months at sea as part of an international crew. This upcoming assignment will be his second contract, lasting 10 months. Having worked in South Korea last year, he is now returning to continue his career and gain even more experience abroad. His journey is a reminder that opportunities for Indonesians can be found in many industries and destinations around the world, including places that may not immediately come to mind. Would you be willing to spend 10 months working at sea in another country?
