If you travel with a food allergy, you know the low-grade anxiety of eating somewhere new, so this one’s for you. I have a shellfish allergy, and Lotus Garden on the Pearl was honestly one of the best experiences I’ve ever had with it. I flagged it the moment we sat down, and instead of the usual hesitation, they took it completely seriously. Everything was made fresh, in a separate prep area, by a dedicated chef, so there was zero cross-contamination worry. We worked our way through the steamed vegetable dumplings, the char siu spare ribs, a crispy salmon roll, ahi tuna, lo mein with chicken, and lychee spring rolls for dessert, and every bite was genuinely incredible. But the part that got me? When my food took a little longer to cook safely, they sent out an extra sushi roll just to take care of us. At an Asian restaurant on a cruise ship, that exceeded every expectation I had. If you’ve been nervous to cruise with an allergy, let this be your sign that it can be done safely and still be amazing. Save this for your next cruise, and drop your allergy below so I can tell you how we navigate it. 🚢
