We sailed to Alaska on Virgin Voyages’ Brilliant Lady expecting the experience to feel quite similar to cruising in Norway or Iceland. It didn’t—and, in many ways, that was a very pleasant surprise! 🏔️ Virgin has put plenty of thought into adapting its usual experience for Alaska, with dedicated entertainment, local experts, wildlife alerts and some clever cold-weather additions. However, its different approach to cruising also creates a few compromises—particularly when it comes to viewing the scenery, finding important itinerary information and making the most of a relatively short voyage. In this Virgin Voyages Alaska review, we share what the cruise line gets right, where we think it misses the mark and whether sailing to Alaska on Brilliant Lady is worth it. Our seven-night voyage sailed round-trip from Seattle, visiting Ketchikan and Sitka in Alaska before calling at Prince Rupert in Canada.
