We rode the Icy Strait Point Red Gondola in Hoonah, Alaska during our Norwegian Bliss Alaska cruise port day — but is the paid ride to the summit actually worth the money? This immersive 4K POV Icy Strait Point Alaska experience takes you through the long gondola lines, the scenic Red Gondola ride up the mountain, snow near the summit, low clouds, changing Alaska weather, and the beautiful ride back down overlooking the forest, coastline and Norwegian Bliss below. At the summit, we show what you can actually expect before spending the extra money — including the Icy Strait Point ZipRider launch area, scenic viewpoints, snacks and drinks, restrooms, and s’mores available for purchase. Heavy cloud cover blocked much of the summit view during our visit, giving you a realistic look at how weather can affect the experience. The ride back down became one of the highlights, with some of our best views of Icy Strait Point, the surrounding mountains, water and Norwegian Bliss. After returning to the cruise port, we check out the walking trail toward Hoonah, Alaska, then hop aboard the FREE gondola toward Hoonah. Elijah keeps watch for whales before the weather quickly changes — leaving a very wet and not-so-happy crowd waiting for the gondola. 😂🌧️ We end our Icy Strait Point adventure with a rainy walk along the pier back to Norwegian Bliss and a preview of our next Alaska cruise adventure at Dawes Glacier.
