Welcome back to The Roaming Twins! Eric, Beth, and Devin have officially crossed the border into Canada! In this exciting travel vlog, we are spending a beautiful day exploring the incredible city of Vancouver, British Columbia. After an amazing train ride up the Pacific Northwest coast, we couldn't wait to hit the streets and see what this world-class destination has to offer. From historic neighborhoods to bustling downtown waterfronts and even a magical surprise at the cruise port, this video is packed with the best things to do in downtown Vancouver. If you are planning a trip to BC or heading out on an Alaskan cruise soon, you absolutely have to add these spots to your itinerary! Our first stop of the day takes us to the oldest and most historic neighborhood in the city: Gastown! Walking down Water Street, you instantly feel transported back in time thanks to the charming cobblestone streets, vintage lampposts, and stunning Victorian-style architecture. The atmosphere here is absolutely incredible, filled with boutique shops, cozy cafes, and amazing local restaurants. But the main event in this neighborhood is the world-famous Gastown Steam Clock. We grabbed a spot right on the corner to watch (and listen!) to this iconic Vancouver landmark. Built in 1977 to cover a steam grate, this antique-style clock actually uses low-pressure steam to power a miniature steam engine inside. Every quarter-hour, it whistles and shoots steam into the air, chiming the Westminster Quarters! It is such a unique, quirky piece of engineering, and experiencing it in person with the crowds gathered around is a must-do Vancouver travel moment. After exploring Gastown, Eric, Beth, and Devin take a scenic walking tour through downtown Vancouver to soak up the sights and sounds of the city. One of the things we love most about Vancouver is how seamlessly it blends a modern, towering metropolis with the breathtaking beauty of nature. As we walked through the clean, incredibly welcoming downtown streets, we were constantly treated to stunning views of the North Shore Mountains framing the glass skyscrapers. The pedestrian-friendly layout makes it so easy to explore. We wandered past high-end shopping districts, bustling city plazas, and beautiful urban parks, soaking in the vibrant, pro-traveler energy that makes Vancouver such a beloved destination for visitors from all over the world. Our downtown stroll eventually leads us to the edge of the water at Canada Place, Vancouver's premier cruise ship terminal. With its massive white sails reaching into the sky, it is one of the most recognizable landmarks on the waterfront. But what made this visit truly special for us was what was docked right beside it! As massive Disney theme park fans, we were absolutely thrilled to see the Disney Magic cruise ship getting ready to set sail! Vancouver is a major hub for Alaskan cruises, and watching this gorgeous Disney Cruise Line vessel load up passengers and prepare for departure was spectacular. We hung out at the waterfront viewing areas to film the epic sail-away sequence. Hearing the iconic Disney horn echo across Vancouver Harbour as the ship glided away toward the Pacific Ocean was the perfect way to cap off our day. It definitely gave us some major cruise fever and has us dreaming of our next time at sea!
