It’s been a few years since we stopped putting a strong focus on Christmas celebrations and instead on celebrating every single day as if it’s Christmas. New Year’s has become more important because it’s a subconscious way to start fresh. Christmas has become a time when we get to spend some quality chill time together, not cooking, prepping, getting overwhelmed. In a travel lifestyle, less is more. There’s so much excitement we get from new destinations, taking trips with huge groups of worldschooling families, experiencing new things. When Christmas rolls around, we want peace, calm, connection with each other. The gifts have lost their value, too. We would rather spend money on trips and experiences. If there’s something we truly need, we buy it without waiting for Christmas. Everything else is unimportant. I have to say that up until this year I was a little torn, felt a little guilty when we wouldn’t celebrate Christmas as grand as some other families. But this is the year of authenticity for me and I realized that THIS is exactly how I want to do it. It feels right and authentic. Not forced and full of obligation.
