A lot of travellers only ever see Port Vila for a few hours off a cruise ship though and we wanted to see a bit more. So we're exploring the island of Efate and in the last episode finally going to see what Port Vila is really like. In this first episode it was all about learning traditions, making lap lap (the national dish), pottery with local artisans, kava with a chief, and spending more time with people than by the pool. If you think of Vanuatu as a bit raw, you're not wrong — but you can stay somewhere special and still land right in the middle of local life.
