EYRE PENINSULA - OYSTER COUNTRY & PIONEER HERITAGE
EPISODE 86 COFFIN BAY – NO OYSTERS! 😱 Yep… you read that right! In this episode, we leave Port Lincoln and head inland for a fascinating step back in time at the Koppio Smithy Museum, one of the Eyre Peninsula’s most impressive historical collections which includes one unexpected amazing collection of barbed wire! Who knew there was such a thing! After soaking up the history, we roll into what turns out to be a beautiful camp at Shelley Beach Lodge, nestled in an olive grove just outside Coffin Bay. We show you around this peaceful spot before heading into Coffin Bay in search of those famous oysters! Here, we cruise around the bay then take a stroll along the Oyster Walk, where we chat about the local oyster farming industry and what makes this place famous worldwide. Then we head to the pub fully expecting a plate of Coffin Bay oysters (for Steve) — only to discover there are no oysters available. A rare and disappointing moment in Oyster Country! 😬 With empty oyster dreams, we head back to camp to relax and enjoy our stunning olive grove surroundings. We also sneak in a day trip to Farm Beach to check out another nearby popular camp spot. History, beautiful camps, coastal drives — and a legendary oyster fail. Just another Wingin It Downunder adventure! We are Steve and Dena with our travelling bird Yummy, living full-time in our caravan, travelling around Australia. We invite you to subscribe to our channel and follow our adventures as we explore this amazing country and unearth some intriguing facts in the many little country towns that we visit along the way. #CoffinBay #AustralianTravel #WinginItDownunder
