Viking Libra is preparing to become one of the most important new cruise ships of 2026. Scheduled for delivery in November 2026, Viking’s newest ocean ship will combine the company’s signature small-ship cruising experience with groundbreaking hydrogen and fuel-cell technology. At approximately 54,300 gross tons, Viking Libra will feature 499 staterooms and accommodate a maximum of just 998 guests. Unlike today’s massive cruise ships carrying thousands of passengers, Viking Libra is designed around quieter, destination-focused cruising — with every stateroom featuring its own veranda. But the biggest story is its propulsion technology. Viking Libra is set to become the world’s first cruise ship capable of using hydrogen stored onboard for propulsion and electricity generation. Its fuel-cell system will be capable of generating up to 6 MW of power and supporting zero-emission operation when using hydrogen.
