Would we live in Roermond, Netherlands? After spending an extended stay in this charming Dutch city, we're sharing what it was really like — from housing and food costs to transportation, walkability, safety, weather, shopping, and everyday life. Roermond surprised us. Located in the southern Netherlands near both Germany and Belgium, the city gave us a great base for slow travel while still feeling much more relaxed than some of the Netherlands' better-known destinations. In this video, we share our experience staying in Roermond, including what housing and Airbnb costs were like, grocery shopping, Dutch food, cafés and pastries, renting eBikes, shopping at the Saturday market, visiting the Designer Outlet Roermond, and taking a day trip by train to Aachen, Germany. We also answer some of the questions that matter most if you're considering a longer stay: 🇳🇱 How expensive is Roermond? 🍟 What's the food like? 🏠 What does accommodation cost? 🚲 Can you get around without a car? 🚆 Is Roermond a good base for exploring Europe? ☕ What's everyday life like? 🌦️ What was the weather like? 🚶 Is Roermond walkable? 🔐 Did we feel safe? ❤️ And most importantly — would we live here? If you're considering visiting the Netherlands, planning a European slow-travel trip, or looking for alternatives to staying in Amsterdam, we hope our experience helps you decide whether Roermond belongs on your list. 👇 Have you visited Roermond?
