Do You Need a Passport for a Cruise? (Honest Answer)

Do you need a passport for a cruise? For most cruises that start and end at the same US port, technically no. Most US citizens can board with a birth certificate and a photo ID. Here is the problem. The document that gets you onto the ship is not the one that gets you home. Miss the ship in port, or fly home for an emergency, and you cannot board a flight to the US without a passport. The fix is a US consulate and an emergency travel document, and that is days of your vacation you are not getting back. Most people never hit that day. I would still rather you have it and never need it. #shorts #cruise #cruisetips #passport #firsttimecruiser
