THINGS TO DO IN CARTAGENA SPAIN 🇪🇸 | One Day in Cartagena – Do You REALLY Need to Pay? Planning a day in Cartagena, Spain and wondering what to see, what to do and which attractions are actually worth paying for? Mr TravelON and the TravelON family spend a full day exploring Cartagena in Murcia, including the Roman Theatre, Panoramic Lift, harbour, old town, naval port, museums and some of the best views in Cartagena. But there was one BIG problem… We spent around €60 as a family and came away wondering WHY?! 😳💸 Cartagena is a beautiful historic Spanish port city with more than 3,000 years of history, combining Roman ruins, military history, impressive architecture, a working harbour and a brilliant city centre to explore on foot. And here's our biggest tip: 👉 YOU CAN EXPERIENCE A HUGE AMOUNT OF CARTAGENA FOR FREE! Walk around the historic streets. Explore the harbour and waterfront. See the naval and military areas. Enjoy the architecture. Find viewpoints overlooking the Roman ruins. Walk around the city centre. Take in the atmosphere. Then there's the famous Cartagena Panoramic Lift, which rises 45 metres to the top of Concepción Hill and gives access towards Parque Torres and some fantastic views across Cartagena and the bay. And the lift itself? Just €2 general admission! So why did we spend nearly €60?! 😂 We bought tickets giving us access to various museums and attractions, but for US, many of the museum sections felt fairly basic and we didn't think the experience justified what we'd spent. That's not to say nobody will enjoy them. If you're seriously interested in Roman history, archaeology and Cartagena's military past, paying to explore everything properly may be worthwhile. The Roman Theatre Museum, for example, takes you through museum galleries before eventually emerging into Cartagena's spectacular Roman Theatre, which once had capacity for around 7,000 spectators. But if you're simply visiting Cartagena for the day and want the views, harbour, streets, architecture and general experience, our advice would be: DO CARTAGENA CHEAPLY FIRST. Don't automatically assume you need an expensive attraction package.
