P&O Cruises Canberra — Wish You Were Here…? 1989 🚢 | PART 2 The journey back through P&O history continues aboard SS Canberra. By the time of this footage, Canberra had already enjoyed a remarkable career. After entering P&O service in 1961 and later being converted for cruising, she was requisitioned by the British Government in 1982 for service during the Falklands War. Canberra returned to Southampton in July 1982 and was subsequently converted back into a cruise ship, returning to passenger service in September 1982. This footage gives us a fascinating glimpse of Canberra as a P&O cruise ship during the late 1980s, offering a look at a very different era of cruising. Featuring ITV’s Wish You Were Here…? and the presenters Judith Chalmers and John Carter. @BeyondTheDeckTravel #pocruises #pando #canberra #sscanberra #wishyouwerehere #judithchalmers #johncarter #itv #cruisehistory #cruisingships #oceanliner #oceanliners #maritimehistory #shiphistory #classiccruiseship #vintagecruising #retrocruise #pocruiseshistory #pandoheritage #falklands #cruisinghistory #beyondthedeck
