Entry rules for the European Schengen Zone are changing. Here's what you need to know about the new ETIAS process. Travelers from the United States and 60 other countries traveling to the 29 member countries of the Schengen Zone must register with ETIAS or risk being denied entry. All travelers, regardless of age, will need an ETIAS visa waiver. The new travel authorization applies to any member country of the Schengen Zone. This includes 23 EU countries, 6 non-EU countries, and 3 European microstates, 32 countries and territories in total. However, many European nations are not part of the Schengen Zone, primarily in Eastern Europe. This means you can travel to these countries without ETIAS registration. The ETIAS application should take about 10 minutes to complete. You'll need a valid passport, an email address, and a debit or credit card to pay the non-refundable 7 euro application fee, which applies to individuals aged 18 to 70. Those under 18 or over 70 still need the ETIAS waiver, but are exempt from the fee. After submitting your online application with your passport details and answering security and health questions, your ETIAS application will be processed immediately. You should receive an email confirming approval within 96 hours. You won't need to reapply for each trip. Your ETIAS authorization will be valid for 3 years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. Please post any comments or questions below. Thanks for watching and bon voyage!
