Divorce Cost Me Everything… But I Surprised My Kids With the Trip They’ve Waited YEARS For
I’m sharing the truth about what’s been happening in my life over the past several months — from my divorce being finalized to the ongoing legal battles and financial struggles that have come with it. After my divorce, I decided to change my last name back to Jeppson. My previous last name tied me to my ex-husband and a chapter of life that came with a lot of pain, trauma, and difficult memories. This felt like an important step in moving forward. I also share why I officially retired the Mominator name and started a new chapter with the Julie Jeppson Podcast, a Gritty Mama’s Production with Carley Tall. One of the biggest updates is that the gag order in my legal case has been lifted, which means I’m finally able to speak more openly about what has been happening behind the scenes. My divorce was finalized in September, but the legal fight hasn’t completely ended. After a four-day trial that cost around $50,000, a new judge later overturned much of the original ruling in a short hearing. Because of that, we’ve now filed an appeal while also trying to reach a global settlement to resolve issues like money owed, house equity, and the mortgage. The truth is, this process has crippled me financially. I owe a significant amount in legal fees, and I’ve had to get creative about how I support my family while still being home for my kids. Right now I’m working through podcasting, content creation, selling merchandise, affiliate partnerships, selling shipping containers through Strong Containers, and even raising and selling puppies. I’ve also been incredibly grateful for support from my church and community during some very difficult seasons. But this video also shares something really special. Even with all of the financial stress, I made the decision to use the money from the puppies to do something meaningful for my kids — a surprise trip they’ve been waiting years for. My kids worked so hard helping raise the puppies, and I realized that sometimes creating memories together matters more than paying another bill. So I surprised them with an incredible adventure: Disneyland, California Adventure, and a cruise to Mexico. This trip is about more than just a vacation. It’s about healing, mental health, family connection, and making memories while we still have this time together — especially before my oldest daughter turns 18 in the near future.
