Hello everybody, and welcome to Exploring with Cindy and Dan! Today we’re sailing through Alaska’s breathtaking Inside Passage as we explore Endicott Arm and the magnificent Dawes Glacier aboard the brand-new Star Princess. Join us as we experience this stunning destination and share another unforgettable adventure with you. The Star Princess is bringing a fresh sense of excitement to Alaska as it sails its very first 7-day Inside Passage cruise season. For many travelers, there is something especially memorable about being aboard a ship during its inaugural voyages to a destination as dramatic and untouched as Alaska. Everything feels new—not only for the passengers experiencing the scenery for the first time, but also for the ship itself as it begins creating its own connection with the rugged coastline, towering glaciers, and deep fjords of the Last Frontier. Sailing through Alaska’s Inside Passage is very different from cruising tropical destinations. The atmosphere changes almost immediately after entering these northern waters. Instead of turquoise beaches and palm trees, passengers are surrounded by dark evergreen forests, mist-covered mountains, icy waterways, and an overwhelming sense of scale. The Star Princess feels perfectly designed for this kind of journey. Its expansive observation areas on the front of the ship with large windows that protects passengers from the weather, and open upper decks allow passengers to stay connected to the scenery almost constantly, whether they are enjoying coffee indoors or standing outside wrapped in blankets as cold glacial air moves across the decks. Throughout the voyage, there is a growing sense of anticipation leading up to one of the highlights of the cruise: Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier. It was not an ideal day, it was cloudy and we had a little bit of rain but Long before arrival day, passengers begin hearing conversations about it throughout the ship. Crew members mention the early morning approach. The Naturalist onboard michelle Nussey was fantastic, she talked about wildlife sightings, glacier formation, and the unique geography of Southeast Alaska. By the time the ship approaches Endicott Arm, excitement quietly builds across every deck.
