What Panama Canal Transit Day Is Really Like on a Cruise Ship | Where to Watch & What to Expect
Wondering what a Panama Canal transit day is really like on a cruise ship? Come along as we spend the day aboard Celebrity Summit, traveling from the Atlantic to the Pacific through the Panama Canal. Rather than staying in one spot all day, we move around the ship to experience the Canal from several very different vantage points — including the forward viewing area near the helipad, the Sky Observation Lounge, Deck 5 promenade, the aft of the ship, and even from inside the buffet when we needed a break from the heat. Along the way, we pass through Gatun Locks, cross Gatun Lake, travel through the Culebra Cut, pass beneath Centennial Bridge, descend through Pedro Miguel and Miraflores Locks, and finish the transit near the Bridge of the Americas and Panama City. We’ll also show you some of the things we learned during the day — including why it pays to be flexible with the Canal schedule, why you may not want to spend the entire transit in one location, and some of the best places we found to watch from aboard Celebrity Summit. If you’d like to experience the Panama Canal from a completely different perspective, watch our Panama Canal by Ferry excursion next. From a much smaller vessel, we traveled from Gamboa through the Culebra Cut, Pedro Miguel and Miraflores Locks, and out toward the Pacific. ▶️ Panama Canal by Ferry: https://youtu.be/SzsMzOQzyCY Thanks for cruising along with us on Jetways to Gangways.
