I pulled into Haines, Alaska and rented a moped right at the cruise port, solo. First stop was Chilkoot Lake State Recreation Site, glassy water framed by mountains that barely look real. Then Chilkat State Park, chasing eagle and bear sightings the whole ride. Two parks, one moped, endless scenery. Haines might be the most underrated port in Alaska.
