A heads up for anyone cruising to Skagway: if your ship docks near the area impacted by the 2022 landslide, be prepared for long shuttle lines returning to the ship. Our excursion ended 30 minutes before all aboard time, and we were dropped off right near the shuttle area for the final stretch back to the ship (the section where walking is restricted due to landslide risk). Even with extra time planned, the line was extremely long and moved very slowly. Thankfully, as long as you were in line before 3 PM, the ship guaranteed you’d make it back onboard — but it was definitely more stressful than expected. Just something to keep in mind when planning excursions and return times in Skagway!
