Reviewing Our London & Southampton Hotels (Norwegian Fjords Cruise)
Planning a Norwegian Fjords cruise out of Southampton and wondering where to stay in London and Southampton? In this video, we share our honest reviews of the three hotels we booked for our first-time trip to the UK; covering our pre-cruise London stay, night-before Southampton hotel, and post-cruise London hotel; to help make your UK cruise vacation planning fast and easy! For our first night in London, we checked into Vintry and Mercer, a boutique hotel near Tower Bridge, the Tower of London, and Borough Market. We review the spacious room, five-star service, complimentary minibar, heated bathroom floors, and the Mercer Terrace rooftop bar. Plus, we share highlights from our surrounding sightseeing, including visiting the British Museum, walking across Tower Bridge, stopping by Gordon Ramsay's Bread Street Kitchen for beef wellington, and grabbing a raclette and crème brûlée donut at Borough Market! To avoid embarkation day delays, we took the National Express coach down to the coast and stayed at The White Star Tavern in Southampton. This historic, 200-year-old inn is packed with maritime charm and historic connections to the Titanic. We break down the room layout, traditional British breakfast, delicious pub dinner (fish and chips!), and the effortless 10-minute taxi transfer to the Southampton cruise terminal. After disembarking our 7-night Celebrity Apex sailing, we returned to London via train and stayed at The July London Victoria. Located right next to Victoria Station and directly across from the Apollo Victoria Theatre (showing Wicked), this aparthotel features studio rooms with full kitchens, dining spaces, and incredible fresh-baked breakfast pastries. We also highlight our post-cruise day exploring the Natural History Museum, walking past Buckingham Palace and Big Ben, visiting Market Halls Victoria, and taking the studio tour coach to the Warner Bros.
