RMS Titanic measured 882 ft 9 in (269.1 m) from bow to stern - about 22 city buses (40 ft / 12.2 m each), almost four Boeing 747-400s (232 ft / 70.7 m) or nearly two and a half American football fields with end zones (360 ft / 109.7 m). When she entered service in 1912 she was the largest ship afloat. Today's largest cruise ship, Royal Caribbean's Icon of the Seas, is 1,198 ft (365 m) long - 315 ft (96 m) longer, with about 248,663 gross tonnage versus Titanic's 46,328 GRT, more than five times as much.
