A 2025 study by 28 shark experts set about 80 ft (24.3 m) as the largest reasonable length for megalodon - two 40 ft (12.2 m) city buses nose to tail - with a slimmer, lemon-shark-like body and a cruising speed of only about 1.3-2.2 mph (2.1-3.5 km/h). Older tooth-size estimates put the largest at about 59 ft (17.9 m), a tooth-width method about 65 ft (20 m); a large great white reaches about 20 ft (6 m). Sources: Shimada et al. 2025, Palaeontologia Electronica (DePaul University release, March 2025: 24.3 m, slender body, cruising speed 2.1-3.5 km/h); Encyclopaedia Britannica, 'Megalodon' (largest specimens 17.9 m); Florida Museum of Natural History, Perez et al. 2021 (up to 65 ft); Britannica, 'White shark' (about 6 m). Models: 'Great White Shark' by djhaski (also used, recolored and stretched, for the megalodon); 'Generic Town Bus' by own.guest - Sketchfab, CC BY 4.0 (modified). #Shorts #ScaleShock #howbig
