You can't swim in the ocean at the Costa Maya cruise port. The port village has a huge free pool, a swim-up bar, restaurants, and shopping just steps from the ship, which makes for an easy day. But because of the breakwater, there's no ocean access inside the port. For a real Mexico beach day, grab a short taxi or the trolley to Mahahual, walk the Malecon, and pick a beach club.
