They live in the woods, just miles from the most visited theme park on Earth. This is the hidden world of homelessness in Disney's backyard — and these are their stories. In this episode, I spend a full day with the homeless community living in the forests and camps surrounding Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. Some of these faces you may recognize — Bella, Hailey, Hollywood, Dave and Ken have appeared in earlier parts of this series. Others I'm meeting for the first time. We talk about what daily life actually looks like when you're living in the woods — how people survive, where they find food, and what keeps them going. We get into the drug crisis, the housing crisis, and the impossible gap between the fantasy world down the road and the reality these people face every single day. This series began in November when I discovered a large community of squatters living inside the abandoned Orlando Sun Resort — a shuttered property locals called "the Bando." In February, the Meyers Group, developers planning a new resort and entertainment district on the site, sealed off the property and displaced everyone living there. Many of them are still out here. This is what happened next. Johnny and Trish, the good samaritans who have been feeding this community for years, are back as well — continuing their quiet, relentless work to make sure nobody goes hungry. This is not a political video. It is not about blame. It is about people — Americans — who have fallen through the cracks, and what their lives actually look like up close. This is Part 5 of an ongoing series, but you can watch this episode on its own. If you want the full story of how this community formed—and what happened when they were forced out of the abandoned resort—check out the earlier parts on the channel.
