Naples, Italy Cruise Port 🇮🇹 Why I LOVE This Chaotic City + Painting Naples
Is Naples, Italy worth exploring on a cruise port day? Absolutely. Naples has a reputation for being busy, gritty, crowded and chaotic, but those are also part of what gives this city so much character. Instead of immediately leaving Naples for another destination, you can spend your port day walking its narrow streets, exploring bustling markets, visiting churches and museums, finding incredible architecture and sculpture, stopping at outdoor bars and restaurants, and eating some seriously good pizza in the city where it was born. Naples feels like thousands of years of history and modern Italian life happening simultaneously, with the Bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius creating an incredible backdrop to all of it. In this video, that port-day experience turns into art as I paint my own tribute to the city: Vedi Napoli e Poi Muori, meaning “See Naples and die.” It’s an old expression capturing the idea that Naples is so extraordinary, once you’ve experienced it, you can die satisfied.
