Most people treat Beauvais France as just an airport stopover, but we found a historic town full of charm and local flavour. Many travellers landing at BVA rush straight to the capital, missing out on the quiet beauty of this region. We decided to stop and explore the city properly, finding that it offers a much more relaxed pace than the busy streets of the capital. It is an ideal spot if you are looking for a genuine look at northern France without the usual tourist crowds. The highlight of our visit was undoubtedly the Beauvais Cathedral. Seeing the soaring Gothic architecture and the famous stained glass in person really put the town on the map for us. We spent our afternoon enjoying outdoor dining at a local cafe and wandering the historic streets, proving it is a fantastic option for a spontaneous day trip from Paris if you have a few hours to spare before your flight or train.
