We’re visiting Roatán as a port stop on our Norwegian Escape Caribbean cruise, and after years of wanting to come here, we finally get a chance to see what this beautiful Honduran island is all about. We start our day at the incredible West Bay Beach, often considered one of the best beaches in Roatán and even one of the best beaches in the Caribbean. With soft white sand, crystal-clear turquoise water and calm conditions, this is pretty much our idea of the perfect Caribbean beach! We spend some time swimming, walking along the beach, eating fresh mango and, of course, trying a local Honduran beer. From West Bay, we make our way to West End, a laid-back seaside village and one of Roatán’s most popular areas. We wander through town, check out the colorful waterfront and buildings on stilts, and get our first real taste of Honduran food at Calelu’s. 🇭🇳 Calelu’s https://maps.app.goo.gl/4ZC52xDWzQVreJC2A Lunch turns out to be incredibly affordable, and we try several local dishes including one of Honduras’ most famous foods — baleadas! After lunch, we continue exploring West End and make our way down to the local beach, where the water is once again incredibly calm and clear. Before heading back to our Norwegian Escape cruise ship, there’s time for one more very important stop: chocolate!
