WELCOME to the NEW HALIFAX IN 2026 🇨🇦 Nova Scotia Is Changing FAST
This week, we’re exploring Halifax, Nova Scotia, to see how much the city has changed in 2026! From the newly transformed Cogswell District to the famous Halifax Waterfront and a hidden coastal community across the harbour, we’re discovering what’s new in Halifax — and revisiting the city we called home for so many years. Halifax is changing fast! We make it an annual tradition to return to Nova Scotia’s capital and explore the latest developments, attractions and places to visit. From there, we walk through the Historic Properties, where even more construction and development are underway, before reaching the incredible Halifax Waterfront. Often considered one of the best urban waterfronts in Canada, the Halifax Waterfront Boardwalk is packed with historic buildings, restaurants, shops, patios, public spaces and beautiful views across Halifax Harbour. We follow the waterfront all the way to the Halifax Seaport and cruise ship terminal to see what else has changed since our last visit. Later, we cross Halifax Harbour and visit an entirely different part of the city that we’ve somehow never explored before: Eastern Passage! We walk the coastal boardwalk at MacCormacks Beach Provincial Park before continuing to Fisherman’s Cove, a colourful seaside village filled with fishing boats, local shops, restaurants and classic Nova Scotia scenery.
