Some people love it, while others call it one of the worst cruise ports in the Caribbean. So, is Harvest Caye actually worth visiting? Near the end of our Caribbean cruise aboard the Norwegian Escape, we spend the day exploring everything Harvest Caye has to offer, including its enormous swimming pool, beach, restaurants, bars, shops and activities. Unlike some private cruise islands, food and drinks on Harvest Caye are not included with your Norwegian Cruise Line package. You also can’t use your onboard drink package, and we had read plenty of complaints about the expensive prices before arriving. But is that enough to make Harvest Caye a bad cruise stop? We show you what Harvest Caye is really like, what there is to do and whether it deserves its mixed reputation. We also discuss the difference between visiting NCL’s private island and experiencing mainland Belize. Our final scheduled cruise stop is Costa Maya, Mexico—but heavy rain changes all our plans. After briefly checking out the Costa Maya cruise port, we return to the Norwegian Escape and wrap up the video with our honest thoughts about taking our first-ever Caribbean cruise.
