The world’s largest electric ship is getting loaded onto a massive semi-submersible "ship-carrying ship" in Hobart, Tasmania. In this video, we take a look at the extraordinary maritime operation happening right now in the River Derwent. Floating off Tranmere is the MV Black Marlin, a 712-foot long heavy-lift transporter. It has arrived to pick up Incat's Hull 096, named China Zorrilla: a $200 million, 426-foot all-aluminium catamaran that holds the title as the largest battery-electric ship on Earth. Black Marlin submerges its main deck to lift this record-breaking, 40-megawatt-hour electric ferry for its 40-day voyage across the ocean to South America! — 📚 Buy my books: https://www.frameandcross.com/books/ 👕 Buy cruise merch: https://chrisframeofficial.teemill.com/ 🛳️ My Maritime History Substack: https://themaritimehistorian.substack.com/ — 🛳️ BOOK A CRUISE (AUS/NZ): https://www.travelmasters.com.au/chris-frame From a childhood voyage on Cunard’s QE2 to becoming a leading voice in maritime history, Chris spends many days each year at sea, with a front-row seat to how the cruise industry operates.
