American Adventure July 2026 - Part 4 - New York and Queen Mary 2 Embarkation Day
Hi Everyone, Today we are embarking on Cunard Queen Mary 2 for a very special 4th July celebration cruise out of New York! We are all excited to be embarking on a new cruise adventure and start our day with a nice breakfast at the Riu Plaza Manhattan Times Square and show the amazing view from the restaurant window! The hotel had such a great location and we would definitely consider staying here again. After breakfast we headed out to find the American Girl Store as Emily wanted to purchase a doll with some of her spending money. The store was not far from the hotel and we passed by some of the World Cup fan zones that had been set up by Panini and Lego, the latter even had a giant lego world cup trophy on display! We had a quick look in FAO Schwartz before the main event itself. Emily enjoyed the American Girl Store and was very happy with her purchase. However it was soon time to check out and make our way over the Brooklyn Bridge to embark Queen Mary 2. We were felling a little bit peckish on board so started our day by having some lunch on the Lido deck at the buffet before retiring to our cabin. We follow this with a cabin tour of our interior 4 berth cabin which was much better than the interior on the P&O Britannia as the beds come out the ceiling and not the wall. After an afternoon recovering from the 100000 steps we had done on the last three days we got ready and went for dinner in the Britannia dining room. We enjoyed our first meal on board. Afterwards we enjoyed views of the Statue of Liberty and the NYC skyline from up on deck. It truly is an amazing backdrop to the cruise ship.
