What happens when your Alaska cruise… doesn’t actually go to Alaska? 😳🛳️ Our adventure aboard Royal Caribbean’s Serenade of the Seas took a turn we definitely weren’t expecting. After boarding in Vancouver for our Alaska cruise, mechanical issues kept us docked while we waited—and waited—for updates about whether we would actually be able to sail. Plans changed. Updates changed. The uncertainty continued. And then came the announcement: our cruise was canceled and everyone had to get off the ship. So…NOW WHAT? In this video, we take you along as everything unfolded—from the initial mechanical problems and days aboard Serenade in Vancouver to the final cancellation announcement and our scramble to figure out what came next. For us, travel has always been an adventure, and sometimes the adventure you get isn't the one you planned. Our philosophy when travel goes sideways? PIVOT, DON’T PANIC. We secured a hotel in Vancouver, started documenting everything for compensation and travel insurance, and began figuring out how to turn four unexpected days in Vancouver into another Harrison Adventure—all while hoping Serenade will be repaired in time for our next scheduled sailing.
