Cruise scams are getting harder to spot in 2026 — and some of the most dangerous ones look completely legitimate. In this video, we uncover 10 cruise scams targeting seniors and other travellers, including fake cruise-line customer service numbers, cruise Facebook scams, bogus shore excursions, taxi and rideshare tricks, fake cabin-sharing offers, recovery scams, port shopping traps, ATM scams and one frightening mistake involving a cruise booking number that reportedly cost a family their entire vacation. One cruiser simply Googled her cruise line, called the first customer-service number she found and was told she suddenly owed hundreds of dollars in extra port fees. The website looked real. The caller sounded real. Her bank was the only thing that stopped the charge. We also explain why scammers may already know your name, address, date of birth or other personal details, how fake Facebook accounts can impersonate trusted cruise personalities, and why a phone number appearing at the top of a search result does not automatically mean it belongs to the cruise line. You’ll learn how to protect yourself from fake taxis and rideshare drivers near cruise ports, what to check before sharing a cabin with someone you met online, how to verify private shore excursions, why “free” jewellery offers in port deserve extra caution, and why you should always choose your own ATM when travelling. And make sure you stay for the final scam, because it involves something many excited cruisers post online without thinking: their booking details. According to the passenger’s account in the video, one visible booking number was enough for someone to access the reservation and cancel the cruise before the family ever reached the ship. If you cruise with Carnival Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean, Norwegian Cruise Line, Princess Cruises, Holland America, Celebrity Cruises, MSC Cruises, Cunard or any other major cruise line, these cruise safety tips are worth knowing before your next vacation. Please share this video with another cruiser, especially someone who may not realise how convincing modern travel scams have become.
