P&O Arcadia British Isles Cruise, Lerwick
This is a review of our day in Lerwick one of the Shetland Islands on 2nd June 2026. The weather was as expected this far north of England. Grey, cool and damp but we received a warm welcome from the regulars in Thule Pub. We met Jim Ross who regularly makes the journey from Unst to Lerwick. Another regular was Tommy the cat who frequents the cafes and bars. He even has his own Facebook page "The Adventures of Tommy". We were surprised to find that the Tourist Information office was closed on the day of our visit, but maybe it is difficult for the office to cope with so many visitors from cruise ships? We wanted to see if we could find any places where Shetland the TV Series was filmed. We think we found the house used for Jimmy Perez. There was plaque on a building which used to be a 'Home for Widows' it was built by Arthur Anderson who was one of the founders of P&O Steamships. We enjoyed our day and looked forward to our next adventure on 4th June in The Isle of Lewis, Stornoway in the Hebrides.
