In this video, I share my personal experience of being told I’d failed a cruise ship medical due to a heart condition — and how I was eventually cleared properly and responsibly to work at sea. This video is not about avoiding safety requirements. It’s about medical advocacy, understanding the process, and knowing that a first “no” isn’t always the final answer. We’ll talk about: – Why cruise ship medicals are so strict – When (and when not) to get your medical – Why different cruise lines require different medicals – What doctors are actually assessing – Why people are sometimes told they’ve “failed” – How second opinions and specialist letters can make a difference – Why failing a medical isn’t always the end of your cruise ship journey I failed a cruise ship medical twice over ten years — and still went on to work multiple contracts. If you’ve been told you’re not fit to work yet, this video is here to reassure and inform, not to give false hope. 💬 If you’ve had a cruise ship medical — or you’re waiting for one — feel free to share your experience in the comments. You’re not alone in this process.
