I RUINED My Family's MSC World America Port Day (Puerto Plata)
It was day 3 on the brand-new MSC World America and our first port day at Taino Bay in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic! It all started with a rainy morning on the ship, grabbing breakfast at the buffet and iced lattes at the Coffee Emporium. Once the weather cleared, we headed into the cruise port to show you the best free things to do in Puerto Plata for families. We check out the free pools, ride the huge lazy river, and show you exactly what to expect (including taxi prices if you want to leave the terminal). But the real story happens when we get back on board. After checking out the adults-only Zen Area and grabbing chicken empanadas at the Harbour Bar, I made one tiny, seemingly harmless decision that completely derailed my evening. While my night mysteriously fell off a cliff and I ended up "left behind," my wife and son went on to have the ultimate night out on the cruise ship! They had the time of their lives without me—riding the bumper cars at the sports complex, watching the palm tree light show on the World Promenade, checking out the Queen Symphonic Show at the Panorama Lounge, and hitting up a tropical deck party.
