January 29th, 2026, was set to be a historic moment inside Port Castries as Norwegian Epic (Norwegian Cruise Line) attempted to hold position mid harbour using Dynamic Positioning (DP). With Celebrity Ascent berthed at Pointe Seraphine 1 and Mein Schiff secured alongside berths 3 and 4, the usual alternative would have been anchoring outside the harbour and tendering guests ashore. To avoid the long, sometimes bumpy tender ride, the decision was made for Epic to maintain position within the port. An operation that would have made her the largest vessel ever to execute this maneuver in Castries. However, the attempt was ultimately abandoned for reasons unknown, and she proceeded to the anchorage instead.
