Queen Mary 2 Highlights: What to See Before the 2027 Refurbishment
Queen Mary 2 is about to change — but before the major 2027 refurbishment, come aboard for a highlights tour of Cunard's legendary ocean liner and see the spaces that make QM2 so distinctive. In this Queen Mary 2 highlights tour, we're taking a more focused look at the places you really shouldn't miss onboard — including some that first-time passengers frequently have questions about or simply struggle to find. We'll visit the Queens Room, home of Cunard's famous afternoon tea and ballroom dancing, and then continue through to the surprisingly hidden G32 nightclub. We'll stop at the Golden Lion Pub, explore the magnificent Royal Court Theatre, visit Illuminations and the planetarium, and look at how dining differs between the Britannia Restaurant, Princess Grill and Queens Grill. We'll also explore some of Queen Mary 2's more unusual features, including: ⚓ The famous Queen Mary 2 kennels on Deck 12 ⚓ The little-known forward observation elevators ⚓ The bridge viewing area ⚓ The wraparound Promenade Deck ⚓ Queen Mary 2's remarkable library ⚓ The forward-facing Commodore Club ⚓ The Lookout high above the bow ⚓ Kings Court and other important spaces around the ship But there's another reason to take this tour now. Queen Mary 2 is scheduled for a major refurbishment in 2027, and several of the areas featured in this video are about to change. Cunard has announced plans that include: • 31 additional staterooms, including 16 new Princess Grill Suites • Refreshed Queens Grill and Princess Grill suites • Updates to the Queens Grill and Princess Grill restaurants • Refreshed selected Britannia and Britannia Club accommodation • An expanded and redesigned kennel facility • A major transformation of Mareel Wellness & Beauty • New technology for Illuminations and its immersive presentations • Redesigned retail spaces • Additional and reorganized outdoor deck areas Queen Mary 2 is expected to enter dry dock in Brest, France, on March 31, 2027, returning to service in May. So this video is also a chance to see many of these spaces before the refurbishment and understand what makes Queen Mary 2 so different from today's conventional cruise ships. Queen Mary 2 isn't simply a cruise ship with an ocean-liner appearance. She was designed specifically for regular North Atlantic service between Europe and North America, and her unusual layout, enormous amount of indoor public space, sheltered promenade and traditional venues reflect that very different purpose.
