To avoid some nasty storms elsewhere in the Mediterranean, the Captain altered our itinerary, landing us in Catania, Sicily a whole day early! But a change of plans means a new adventure. Today, I’m taking you along for a completely DIY, solo day trip to the stunning hilltop town of Taormina. From navigating Italian train stations to exploring ancient ruins, downpours didn't deter me! From there, you must catch a connector bus to go up the mountain into the actual town of Taormina. Keep your eyes peeled for the bus stop right outside the station! Sabatini's Trattoria: If you're sailing on Sapphire Princess, this specialty dining spot is a must-try.
