Costa Maya from NCL Escape | Drift Diving STEPS on Nitrox

Diving Costa Maya with Doctor Dive at the STEPS site was a fantastic day in the water. I dove with Cesar, alongside Freddy, who was on the dive as well—and also happens to be an instructor. He was excellent at pointing things out and spotting marine life I might have otherwise missed. I was joined by dive buddies Darlene and Steve (on a different ship), which made it even more fun to share the experience. We drifted through the coral fingers and saw angelfish, shrimp, schools of fish, cruising jacks, and an eagle ray gliding by in the distance. I even tried for a selfie with an angelfish—and yes, the eagle ray is in the video, even if it’s a bit hard to see. A smooth drift dive, 50 minutes at 78 feet on Nitrox, and another reminder of how grounding it feels to be back underwater. Doctor Dive also offers private dives, which is always a great option.
