Welcome to Exploring with Cindy and Dan! Today, we're in the charming city of Victoria in British Columbia, Canada, arriving aboard the Grand Princess. We are doing a walking tour from the port to the city of Victoria featuring the Parliament Buildings so come along as we dive into another exciting adventure! Our journey in this amazing cruise included the ports of call: Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, Icy Strait Point, Seward, Sitka, Haines, Wrangell and Vancouver in Canada. We also cruised in the scenic wonders of Glacier Bay National Park, Yakutat Bay, and College Fjord. 📌 So be sure to subscribe and hit that notification bell, so you won’t miss any of our videos. 🎯 Today’s Destination is Victoria, Canada 🛳️ This marks Day 16 of our 17-day Ultimate Alaska Cruise, and Victoria is our nineth port of call. We arrived around noon, with an all-aboard time set for 11:00 PM. Guests were able to disembark shortly after 12:15 PM, once the gangways were open—just listen for the announcement. This was especially exciting, as on most 7-day cruises, we typically arrive in Victoria around 9:00 PM and have to be back on board by 11:30 PM. We usually have just 2 and a half hours to explore the city or do an excursion. It’s been a long time since we’ve had the chance to stop in Victoria during the day! For us, Alaska remains the crown jewel of scenic cruising. That’s why we keep coming back year after year. No two Alaskan journeys are ever the same—there’s always something new to discover, and every cruise feels like a fresh adventure. We’re thrilled to be back in Alaska, this time aboard the Grand Princess and this is our first time in Victoria during the day. After this cruise, we embarked on a 7-day Inside Passage cruise aboard the Royal Princess, continuing our love affair with this breathtaking region. There’s something undeniably magical about arriving in Victoria by cruise ship. It’s not just about the destination—it’s about the journey. You feel it the moment the ship glides through the quiet waters of the Strait of Juan de Fuca, the ocean stretching wide, sky blushing with morning light, and the rugged outline of Vancouver Island emerging on the horizon like a painting slowly coming to life and this morning was very beautiful. The sea breeze is crisp, carrying the salty scent of the Pacific as you stand at the rail of the ship, eyes wide, camera forgotten in your hands. Ahead lies Victoria, the capital of British Columbia—an elegant city known for its gardens, British charm, and coastal beauty. But from the water, it feels like you're sailing into another time altogether. As our ship approaches Ogden Point, it’s not skyscrapers or industrial ports that greet us—it’s charm. To the left, you might see sailboats gently bobbing in the harbor. On the right, locals walk their dogs along the seawall. Then, the cruise terminal comes into view, simple and welcoming, with Canadian flags fluttering in the breeze and flowers already blooming around the dock. The first thing you notice is how close everything feels. Unlike larger cities where ships dock miles from the main attractions, in Victoria, you’re just minutes from the heart of the city. Part of what makes cruising to Victoria so special is the journey itself. Whether you depart from Seattle, Vancouver, San Francisco, or further south, your days at sea are a chance to reconnect—with nature, with loved ones, or with yourself. What makes Victoria uniquely beautiful from the deck of a cruise ship is that it was always a port town—a place whose soul is rooted in the ocean. When you arrive by sea, you see it as explorers once did. You understand the geography, the relationship between land and water, and why this city grew where it did. Let's watch our video......Thank you .
