NCL Escape Day in Roatán | Scuba Diving the Reef

Scuba diving in Roatán during a week of challenging conditions meant adapting—and that’s exactly what we did. I was there for the day on Norwegian Escape, and because of a tropical storm in the area, we headed to the other side of the island to find calmer water. I dove with Roatán Divers with Captain Raul and Diego was my excellent dive guide from Italy, who was calm, thoughtful, and completely on it. I only had time for one dive due to the ship arriving late—but it was a good one: 93 feet, 60 minutes, on Nitrox. Underwater highlights included a barracuda, schools of small fish, a giant crab 🦀, lionfish, a large green moray eel, and a stingray cruising by. Conditions weren’t perfect, but the sea still delivered. Grateful for experienced teams who know how to pivot, put safety first, and still make time in the water meaningful.
